Rules as Code (RaC) is gaining momentum and has considerable transformative potential, if done right. This is especially the case for governments, because complex legislation and government rules in a constantly changing landscape can be codified to drastically simplify digital experiences for its citizens.

Phillipa and Suchi worked on two projects in 2022 that combined Drupal and Rules as Code (RaC). This presentation will provide a quick overview of both projects, before moving into the technical solution. Salsa built an OpenFisca Drupal module to integrate OpenFisca with a Drupal webform.

Salsa migrated the large health.vic.gov.au from SiteCore to Victoria’s Single Digital Presence (SDP) to access the benefits of open source and the whole-of-government platform. The project represents a very large site with over 110 different features identified for rebuilding on SDP, and over 80,000 content objects (pages, documents and components) for migration.
