What is GovFlix?
GovFlix exists to educate practitioners working in the government sector to build better, more effective websites. The site has catalogued a variety of video resources from conferences and meetups around the world. Subject matter includes content management systems (CMS), User Experience (UX), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Rules As Code (RAC), content strategy, design systems, accessibility and anything else related to the delivery of digital experiences for citizens.
GovFlix has been built using a range of open-source technologies including:

- GovCMS(Opens in a new tab/window): The CMS distribution used by the Australian Government.

The core technology beneath GovFlix is Recombee, an AI-powered recommendation system that can provide recommendations based on user behaviour and the "wisdom of the crowd". GovFlix uses Recombee to deliver a user experience similar to what might be found on popular content recommendation systems.
What is Convivial for GovCMS?
Convivial for GovCMS(Opens in a new tab/window) is a starter site developed by Morpht. It provides an excellent starting point for government agencies looking for a modern, accessible and feature-rich CMS. Convivial for GovCMS supports personalisation, recommendations and decision flows out of the box.
What is Recombee?
Recombee (Opens in a new tab/window)is an AI-powered recommendation engine that delivers personalised recommendations to users based on several criteria including recency, popularity, affinity, similarity and history. Recombee combines several technologies and approaches to blending recommendations so that the best recommendations can be made to users.
Why recommendations for government?
Recommenders as a Service, such as Recombee, are well suited to domains such as media and commerce. We are all familiar with sites such as Netflix, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube and countless others where personalised recommendations are very helpful. However, recommendations are also relevant in other domains such as news feeds and content aggregators where users are delivered a content stream relevant to their varied interests.
Certain types of government sites would be candidates for personalised recommendations. For sites with a relatively large corpus of time-based content, recommendations could offer significant value. For example, articles, alerts, events and resources are all possibilities for recommended items. The case is more compelling when users may have intersecting interests (topic, audience) and they want to see a certain slice of content.
